Last Month, Philippines was once again attacked by a typhoon named "Maring". The heavy rains was triggered by the southwest monsoon. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Maring caused damage to infrastructure and agriculture and hit up to P633.082 million. 248 houses were destroyed and 356 were damaged. According to Philippine Star, 2.52 million suffered from the typhoon, broken down into 541,554 families in 1,822 villages in 138 towns and 35 cities in 17 provinces. During those time, about 46,276 families or 206,232 people are in 769 evacuation centers.
NEGATIVE
There were many negative effects that typhoon Maring brought about. Once again, each and everyone that were affected by the flood lost something or someone they value so much. For some, they lost someone, may it be their Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Grandma, Sister, Brother, Auntie or Uncle. For others, they lost their homes, their most valuable things and for almost everyone, they were losing hopes. The country, economy and the people were greatly affected by that tragedy. There were many lives wasted, businesses destroyed and people asking for more support. A lot were troubled because of the fact that they have to start from scratch once again. Economy is affected because when typhoon Maring hit, no one was exempted. Businesses, small or big were affected and some had to stop their operations which resulted to a bigger problems.
POSITIVE
Despite the countless negative effects of the typhoon Maring, we should not forget its positive effects. During and after the storm, there were many who helped and lend their hands, money, relief goods and so much more to the ones who needed it the most. Everyone became a hero and became a man and woman for others.
From that image above, a quote says "We should not depend on one man. We should depend on all of us. All of us is expandable in the cause for freedom and therefore I say stand up now and be a leader." During those time that the Philippines was being hit by the flood, everyone became dependent on each other. Everyone can be a leader and being a leader doesn't mean to be great in everything. Being a leader means having the courage to lead and guide his members. The flood also made a lot of positive events. As we all know from a famous and inspiring line "There's always a rainbow after a rain.", life has many challenges, it has a lot of ups and downs but we cannot let one storm destroy us completely, we cannot stay depressed and hopeless, we should stand and let those challenges know that our God is ten times bigger & stronger than all of them. All we need is Faith and determination to move on and accept everything.
Everyone can be a hero to someone, it just needs a little love and care. We can be a great leader and help too, not only during those storms and floods or not only when someone is watching but also through times when no one is watching and when nothing's wrong. We should take good care of our Mother Earth for when we abuse her, it will only reflect back to us through floods, heavy rains and other disasters. A little help can make a change and starting a change from ourselves can result also to a bigger and newer community. Through our little changes, we can help prevent big problems like floods, typhoons, deaths, economic issues and many more!
